Plant Details & Care
Colubrina arborescens is known by the common names ‘coffee colubrina’ and ‘greenheart.’ This Florida endangered species can grow to 20 feet tall. Large, shiny, attractive leaves form a not-so-dense canopy that allows some light to pass through. Trees are typically taller than broad. Flowers are tiny and yellow-green with a sticky nectar disk that is attractive to insects, which in turn makes this tree a bird magnet when flowering. Fruits are dry 3-seeded capsules that may audibly pop as they dry, releasing the seeds when brown. A native to Everglades National Park and the Florida Keys , coffee colubrina can also be found in the West Indies and tropical Americas. Plant this fast-growing species in full sun.

Can I Visit the Nursery?
While our nursery facilities are not open to the public, we do make a large selection of plants available for purchase online, in person at the Shop at Fairchild and multiple times throughout the year during plant sales. Check our plants sales calendar here.
Do You Deliver or Can I Pick Up My Order?
Both! We deliver locally within 15 miles of Fairchild, and you can also pick up your plants in person at the Garden.
When Will I Receive My Order?
Local Deliveries: Please note that we currently only deliver on the weekend. You will automatically receive updates as we process your order.
Pick Up: Orders may be picked up to 5 days from the Shop at Fairchild. You will automatically receive updates as we process your order.
Handling: Orders are typically readied for delivery or pick-up the week after receipt of your order.
Do You Ship?
We now offer international shipping on select products available in our Nationwide Shipping collection. Restrictions may apply.
Will My Plant Look Exactly Like the Photos?
Our photos show various specimens for reference. Product listings also include an image showing the approximate size of the plant you will receive. Each plant is unique, and variations in color, size, and form are natural.
I’m a Fairchild Member! Am I Eligible for a Member Discount?
Yes! Fairchild Members receive 10% off each purchase. Members must enter the promo code at checkout.
Are There Limitations for the Use of Discount/Promo Codes?

What is Your Return or Replacement Policy?
Due to the delicate nature of live plants, we are unable to accept returns.
While we are confident you’ll love your plant(s), if you are dissatisfied with your purchase, please email plants@fairchildgarden.org with clear photos within 48 hours of delivery or pick-up so that we may immediately assist you and evaluate your concern.
