An Enduring Orchid of Fragrance and Form
Native to the rocky outcrops and forest margins of eastern Australia, Dendrobium kingianum is a resilient and widely admired species celebrated for both its adaptability and refined floral display.
In early spring, mature plants produce arching inflorescences adorned with numerous delicate blossoms in shades ranging from soft white to lavender-pink, often accented by a richly colored lip. These blooms are not only visually graceful but also emit a pleasant, sweet fragrance, enhancing their appeal in both private collections and curated garden spaces.
This species is particularly valued for its compact, clumping growth habit, forming dense aggregations of pseudobulbs over time. Its ability to thrive across a range of environmental conditions makes it an excellent candidate for both novice growers and experienced orchid enthusiasts.
Horticultural Notes:
Dendrobium kingianum performs best in bright, filtered light with good air circulation. Allow the plant to dry slightly between waterings. A cooler, drier winter rest period is beneficial and encourages robust flowering in the spring.

Yes! Every single plant we sell is grown at our Nursery in Miami, Florida, by Fairchild’s horticulturists and volunteers.

Can I Visit the Nursery?
While our nursery facilities are not open to the public, we do make a large selection of plants available for purchase online, in person at the Shop at Fairchild and multiple times throughout the year during plant sales. Check our plants sales calendar here.
Do You Deliver or Can I Pick Up My Order?
Both! We deliver locally within 15 miles of Fairchild, and you can also pick up your plants in person at the Garden.
When Will I Receive My Order?
Local Deliveries: Please note that we currently only deliver on the weekend. You will automatically receive updates as we process your order.
Pick Up: Orders may be picked up to 5 days from the Shop at Fairchild. You will automatically receive updates as we process your order.
Handling: Orders are typically readied for delivery or pick-up the week after receipt of your order.
Do You Ship?
We now offer international shipping on select products available in our Nationwide Shipping collection. Restrictions may apply.
Will My Plant Look Exactly Like the Photos?
Our photos show various specimens for reference. Product listings also include an image showing the approximate size of the plant you will receive. Each plant is unique, and variations in color, size, and form are natural.

Yes! Fairchild Members receive 10% off each purchase. Members must enter the promo code at checkout.

What is Your Return or Replacement Policy?
Due to the delicate nature of live plants, we are unable to accept returns.
While we are confident you’ll love your plant(s), if you are dissatisfied with your purchase, please email plants@fairchildgarden.org with clear photos within 48 hours of delivery or pick-up so that we may immediately assist you and evaluate your concern.
