Mesua ferrea

Ceylon Ironwood is a slow-growing ornamental tree with a graceful shape, small, fine grayish-green foliage with a beautiful pink to red flush of drooping young leaves, and large, fragrant white flowers. As the common name Ironwood indicates, the timber of this tree is heavy, hard and strong. In South Florida, it becomes a medium-sized tree over many years, though in its native habitat in tropical Asia, it can grow to over 98 feet tall, with a trunk width of 3 feet and often buttressed at the base.
