A truly tropical species, the silver thatch palm is found only in the Florida Keys and the West Indies. Silver thatch palm was a member of the genus Thrinax until 2008, when palm taxonomists at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden published a study showing it is genetically distinct. It is now the sole member of the genus Leucothrinax. Thatch palm flowers are great for pollinators, and it is a larval host plant for the monk skipper butterfly. It has fan-shaped leaves with silvery undersides. Plant in full sun or light shade. (Pot size: 4 gallon)Find Leucothrinax morrisii at Fairchild.
