'Monarch Rosemallow' is a perennial shrub native to southern and southeast Asia. Dark red flowers with purple centers and yellow anthers bloom in fall and winter. Its palmate leaves have serrated margins and are lobed into 3, 5, or 7 parts, turning a red-gold in late fall. The long stems of Hibiscus radiatus arch over and grow horizontally, forming a wide mound about 4 feet tall and 8 feet wide. To keep this plant at a more manageable size, clip the growing tips repeatedly. This will force increased branching and a more bushy, compact habit. Seed capsules are a pinkish-brown and the seeds will self sow. Prefers full sun to light shade and well-draining soil. (Pot size: 1 gallon)
