A rare, native Florida tree, lignum vitae has violet blue flowers, ornamental yellow fruit and dense green foliage. Underused in the landscape in South Florida, this shrub or small tree, usually less than twenty feet, adds special texture to the garden. Lignum vitae grows in a wide range of soil types and once established, is drought and salt tolerant. Flowering best in full sun, it can also flourish in partial shade. There are no significant insect pests or diseases associated with this species. Lignum vitae is easily propagated from seed. (Pot size: 3 gallon)
