This is a newly recognized species from northern Thailand and Vietnam. It is a compact banana relative that does not clump like bananas (Musa sp.). It will eventually produce a large inflorescence with showy red bracts that will produce fruit and seeds but the main plant dies after flowering and needs to be re-started from seeds. It should make a great landscape plant for South Florida and thrives in full sun. It should also make a great plant in a larger container.
