Sesbania grandiflora

'Vegetable Hummingbird' is a leguminous shrub to small tree of the family Fabaceae, native to Southeast Asia, where the flowers and new leaves are eaten as a vegetable. Sesbania grandiflora is fast growing and soft-wooded, growing to a height of 20 feet. Leaves are pinnately compound, the flowers are white and the fruit is a thin pod that contains up to 50 seeds. It is cultivated in tropical areas as an ornamental, a green manure crop and as a food source. Plant in full sun to very light shade. (Pot size: 3 gallon)
