'Hanging Lobster Claw' is an evergreen perennial native to W. South America, found in tropical rainforests, and thriving in a warm and humid environment. Leaves are large, dark green, and banana-like. The inflorescence, unlike other Heliconias, is pendulous and does not collect water in the cup-like bracts, thus the flowers provide an undiluted source of nectar which make them exceptional hummingbird attractors. Heliconia rostrata grows 4 to 6 feet tall. It prefers full sun to slight shade, well-draining soil and humidity. A great addition to a tropical landscape. (Pot size: 3 gallon)
