'Trumpet-Creeper' is a much-branched shrub growing up to 10 feet tall. The remarkable Phyllarthron bernierianum is located in the Lin Lougheed Spiny Forest of Madagascar at FTBG, which is the perfect place, since it grows primarily in a seasonally dry tropical biome. It belongs to the family Bignoniaceae, most noted for ornamentals and grown for their conspicuous, tubular flowers. 'Trumpet Creeper' produces a light pink flower. An interesting characteristic of Phyllanthron bernierianum is its phyllodes, which have the structure of a compound leaf, but are actually winged petioles and rachis instead of leaflets. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Drought tolerant once established. (Pot size: 3 gallon)
