Thelypteris sclerophylla

'Stiff Star-Hair Fern' is a Florida endangered species which is rarely available for purchase. Fronds are semi-erect, grow to about 12” and feel like sandpaper to the touch due to the presence of microscopic star-shaped hairs. If planted in the ground (do not amend the soil), in full shade or partial shade, it will be worry-free and will require no irrigation once established. This species favors limestone rocks, so it could make a good addition to a shady rock garden. (Pot size: 1 pint)
