'Silverback Fern' is a rhizomatous, perennial fern characterized by its fronds that have a striking, silvery-white powdery coating called farina on their undersides. The upper sides are dark green. The fronds are erect to arching, growing up to 1 meter long. The stalks are dark and shiny. Pityrogramma calomelanos can be classified as a geophyte or lithophyte as it grows in rocky or disturbed soils. The native range of this species is Mexico to Tropical America and it grows in both forests and open environments. Prefers semi-shade to full sun and well-draining soil. (Pot size: 1 gallon)
