Golden Polypody is a great Florida native fern. It is usually an epiphyte of our official state tree, the Sabal Palm. Fronds up to 2 feet long emerge each spring from the furry golden-brown rhizome, and die back in our winter dry season. Our plants are growing in soil for easy transport, and you may opt to plant them in the ground (they do great planted in soil), or attach them to a host tree. If you attach them to a host tree, shake off all the excess soil and discard it, then use biodegradable twine to tightly tie the rhizomes to the tree, and water frequently until established.
