Zanthoxylum coriaceum, the 'Biscayne Prickly Ash', is one of Florida's rarest trees. There are only a handful of naturally-occurring individuals in Miami-Dade and Broward coastal habitat. This species, which is also found in the Bahamas and the Greater Antilles, is listed by the State as an endangered species. It is very spiny when young, becoming spineless with age. The giant swallowtail butterfly can use this species as a larval host plant. Plant in light shade or full sun. (Pot size: 1 gallon)
