'Fish Tail Palm' or 'Albert Palm' is a solitary palm with a native distribution in the South West Pacific, commonly in lowland rain forests. Caryota rumphiana is a monocarpic species- a plant that dies after blooming once. However, there is a period of several years between the emergence of the first flowers and the setting of the last fruit. The trunk reaches a height of 60 feet. The leaves are bi-pinnate with fishtail-shaped leaflets, hence the common name 'Fishtail Palm'. The inflorescence can be described as mop-like. Prefers partial shade to filtered sun when young, full sun when mature, and consistently moist, well-draining soil. (Pot size: 3 gallon)
